Four guided day trips leave Cancun for the Tulum area: the Tulum ruins, the ruins plus a Gran Cenote swim, the Coba jungle pyramid, and Akumal's sea turtles. Each one picks you up at your Cancun hotel between 6:45 and 7:00 am, drives about 2 hours south, and brings you back the same day. Prices from Cancun start at US$79 per adult.
The main difference between the four tours is what you do once you arrive: history by the sea, history plus a swim, a pyramid climb in the jungle, or snorkeling with turtles. Pickup times from Cancun are almost the same, but the return time changes a lot, from about 2:30 pm to about 5:30 pm.

Pick by what matters most to you on the day. Each tour page has the full itinerary, inclusions and photos.
A guided walk through the walled Maya city on the cliff, with El Castillo and the sea view. It is the classic choice if this is your first visit and history is the goal. US$79 per adult from Cancun, pickup 7:00 am. See the Tulum ruins tour for the full day plan.
The same guided ruins visit, then about an hour swimming in Gran Cenote, a clear freshwater sinkhole about 10 minutes away. Cenote entry, snorkel mask and life jacket are included. US$99 per adult from Cancun, 7:00 am to about 4:00 pm. Details on the Tulum ruins and cenote tour page.
Coba sits inland in the jungle. You bike or walk the old Maya roads to the Nohoch Mul pyramid, which you can climb, then swim in a cenote and eat lunch in Coba village. It is the longest day from Cancun: 6:45 am to about 5:30 pm, US$89 per adult. Read the Coba ruins tour page.
A half-day with a licensed guide in Akumal Bay, where wild green sea turtles feed on the seagrass, plus a cenote swim. Life vest, gear and bay fees are included. It is the shortest day from Cancun: 7:00 am to about 2:30 pm, US$89 per adult. See the Akumal turtle snorkeling tour.
A Tulum day trip from Cancun is a door-to-door day: a driver collects you at your hotel, you travel in an air-conditioned vehicle, a local guide leads you at the site, and the same vehicle brings you back to your hotel.
We pick up from hotels in Cancun. Send your hotel name when you message us; we reply with your exact pickup time and point. If your hotel is outside our normal pickup route, we tell you before you book, not on the day.
Tulum is about 2 hours by road from Cancun, so expect roughly 4 hours in the vehicle in total. That is why pickups start at 6:45 to 7:00 am and why full days run until about 4:00 to 5:30 pm. For other ways to travel the route, see getting around Tulum.
For most visitors staying in Cancun, yes, if you accept the early start. A guided day trip removes the parts that make the trip hard on your own: bus times, taxis between sites, and finding a guide at the gate. It is less worth it if you dislike long drives; in that case the shorter Akumal tour, or a night in Tulum, makes more sense.
All four tours from Cancun include round-trip hotel pickup and drop-off, air-conditioned transport, a local guide and bottled water. What else is included depends on the tour:
We confirm your full total for your group on WhatsApp before you pay.
Every tour can also run private, with your own guide and vehicle and a start time you choose. Private prices for up to 4 people start at US$249 for the Tulum ruins, US$299 for ruins and cenote, US$279 for Coba and US$259 for Akumal. Those are base prices; from Cancun the longer drive changes the price, so ask us for your private Cancun quote.

Pickup from Cancun is at 6:45 am for the Coba ruins tour and 7:00 am for the Tulum ruins, ruins and cenote, and Akumal turtle tours. The early start is because the drive from Cancun to Tulum takes about 2 hours each way, and arriving early means fewer crowds and less heat.
Pickup is from your hotel in Cancun. Send your hotel name or address on WhatsApp before you book and we confirm your exact pickup point and time. If your hotel is outside our normal pickup route, we tell you before you pay.
Yes. Children aged 4 to 11 pay 25% less and children under 4 ride free on all four tours. For young kids the shorter Akumal turtle tour (back about 2:30 pm) is often easier than the longer Coba day (back about 5:30 pm).
Yes. The Tulum ruins and cenote tour adds about an hour in Gran Cenote, with entry and snorkel gear included, for US$99 from Cancun. The Coba and Akumal tours also include a cenote swim.
Bring cash in pesos for the gate fees at the ruins, a hat, water, a swimsuit and towel if your tour includes a swim, and biodegradable sunscreen. Eat breakfast early or bring a snack, because pickup is before most hotel restaurants open.
Tell us your date and hotel. We reply with your pickup time and full price.
